Vad skulle få dig att göra något sådant? Tja, om vi tittar på föregående avsnitt i detta evangelium (Luk 1: 26-38), kanske vi kan hitta vårt svar. I 1:38: "Maria sade: Se, jag är Herrens tjänarinna. Må det ske mot mig enligt ditt Ord. Sedan avlägsnade sig ängeln från henne." Maria sa effektivt ja till Gud när hon sa må det ske mot mig enligt ditt ord. Genom hennes interaktion med ängeln förändras Marias status eftersom han vars namn är heligt (1:49) nu bor i henne på grund av hennes JA.
