Ein sehr altes Gebet
Als Jesus von seiner Mutter ging
und die große heilige Woch anfing
da hatte Maria viel Herzeleid
und sie fragte den Sohn mit Traurigkeit:
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Palmsonntag sein?
Am hl. Palmsonntag werd ich ein König sein,
da wird man mir Kleider und Palmen streun.
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Montag sein?
Am hl. Montag bin ich ein trauriger
Wandersmann, der nirgends ein Obdach finden kann!
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Dienstag sein?
Am hl. Dienstag bin ich der Welt ein Prophet,
verkünde wie Himmel und Erde vergeht.
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Mittwoch sein?
Am hl. Mittwoch bin ich gar arm und gering,
verkauft um 30 Silberling.
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Donnerstag sein?
Am hl. Donnerstag bin ich im Speisesaal,
das Opferlamm beim Abendmahl.
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Karfreitag sein?
Ach liebste Mutter mein,
könnt Dir der hl. Karfreitag verborgen sein?
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Karsamstag sein?
Am hl. Karsamstag bin ich ein Weizenkorn,
das in der Erde wird neu geborn.
Ach Sohn Du Lieber. Jesu mein,
was wirst Du am hl. Ostertag sein?
Am Sonntag freu Dich o Mutter mein,
da werd ich vom Tod erstanden sein,
dann trag ich das Kreuz mit der Fahn in der Hand,
dann siehst Du mich wieder im Glorienstand.

ETERNAL FATHER, thank You for sending Your Son and paving the way for our lives to be set free through JESUS' Death on the cross. Thank You for what this day stands for - the beginning of Holy Week, the start of the journey towards the Power of the Cross, the Victory of the Resurrection, and the rich Truth that CHRIST truly is our King and Salvation.
"HOSANNA! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD! HOSANNA!..."
We give You praise and honor for Your ways are righteous and true. We give You worship for You are holy and just. We will declare that Your love stands firm forever. For Your lovingkindness endures forever.
We praise You that Your ways are far greater than our ways, Your thoughts far deeper than our thoughts. Thank You that You had a plan to redeem. Thank You that You make all things new. Thank You that Your Face is towards the righteous, and You hear our prayers, and know our hearts. Help us to stay strong and true to You. Help us not to follow after the voice of the crowds, but to press in close to You, to hear Your whispers in spirit, and seek after You alone.
We praise You, we bless You Lord! Thank You that You reign Supreme and we are more than conquerors through the gift of CHRIST! In the Mighty Name of JESUS,

Profile
Fourth of the eight children of Saint Bridget of Sweden and Ulf Gudmarsson. Educated at the convent of Riseberg. Married by arrangement at age 13 to the pious German noble Eggart von Kürnen. Soon after their marriage, both she and her husband took vows of chastity and continence. Travelled to Rome, Italy in c.1350 to be with her mother. Widowed soon after.
For the next 25 years the two women used Rome as a base for a series of pilgrimages, including one to Jerusalem. When home, they spent their days in prayer and meditation, working with the poor, and teaching them religion. They each had to fend off the unwanted advances of local men, including young lords; during one of these, a wild hind came to Catherine's defense, chasing off the troublesome, would-be suitor.
When Bridget died, Catherine took her body back to Sweden, burying it at the convent of the Order of the Holy Savior (Brigittines) at Vadstena. Catherine became superior of the Order, and served as abbess. Wrote a devotional work entitled Sielinna Troëst (Consolation of the Soul), but no copies have survived. Attained papal approval of the Brigittine Order in 1375. Worked for the canonization of her mother.
