Abboten Orsini berättar för oss att kejsarinnan Sankt Pulcheria lät bygga denna kyrka, och gav den Vår Frus gördel. En fest av denna relik hålls på Konstantinopel, under titeln Deposition av Vår Frus gördel. Den Efter att fransmännen hade intagit denna stad, fördes denna dyrbara skatt bort av Nivellon, biskop av Soissons, och placerad i det berömda klostret Vår Fru, med en del av den himmelska Drottningens slöja.
Kejsarinnan Sankt Pulcheria bodde i Konstantinopel på 500-talet och hon byggde många kyrkor, sjukhus och värdshus för de utblottade. Hon är ansvarig för minst tre kyrkor i Konstantinopel som var tillägnad den Heliga Jungfrun – Blachemae, Chalkoprateia och Hodegetria.

Kyrkan Jungfrun av Blachernae, nu känd som Panagiakyrkan av Blachernae, ligger i Istanbul. Det var en gång den mest berömda helgedomen i Konstantinopel, och ligger innanför stadens höga murar, bara en kort avstånd från Gyllene hornet. Kyrkan påbörjades av kejsarinnan Pulcheria, och fullbordades av hennes make, kejsar Marcianus. Den byggdes på platsen av vad som troddes vara en helig källa, vars vatten fortfarande är anses ha ett terapeutiskt värde. Kejsar Leo I gjorde flera tillägg, inklusive Hagai Soros, som faktiskt var ett litet kapell bredvid kyrkan där den heliga Jungfru Marias heliga klädnad och gördel förvarades i en silverfärgad och guldrelikskrin. Relikerna hade förts från Palestina år 458.

Staden Konstantinopel belägrades under det fjärde korståget under år 1203 och tillfångatogs i april 1204. Meditation.
.
Mary was the masterpiece of God's creation; her soul was the most perfect ever dwelling in a human body. A pious tradition tells us that she possessed the use of reason much earlier than other children. Her intellect was illuminated by supernatural light; her will was exempt from concupiscence. Being preserved from original sin, she surpassed in holiness, from the first moment of her existence, all angels and men. She possessed all virtues in the highest degree, because of her faithful co-operation with sanctifying grace and with the countless actual graces granted to her. She lived in constant communion with God, undisturbed by evil inclinations from within or temptations from without.

Practice
.
Through the effects of original sin we have lost the supernatural prerogative of original justice, and even after receiving sanctifying grace in holy Baptism we are exposed to many temptations. Our life is a constant warfare. We must, however, not despair in this struggle, for if we are true children of Mary she will come to our aid. In all temptations Mary is the "Help of Christians" if we have recourse to her. But if we wish her to help us, we must not expose ourselves unnecessarily to temptation. "He that loveth danger shall perish in it" (Ecclns. iii. 27). This sad experience has come to many. Let us, therefore, avoid the danger and occasion of sin; and whenever evil approaches us in any shape, let us call upon Mary, and we may rest assured that she will assist us. "I shall certainly triumph over my enemies," exclaims St. Alphonsus, "if I place my trust in thee, O Mary, and if thou art my shield and protection against them."

I. The life of the righteous is a continual fight, not only with visible and carnal enemies, but also with invisible and spiritual ones, who unceasingly set up snares for the life of the soul. With such enemies, the fight is continual, and the victory difficult, and only possible when you have the protection of Saint Michael. To the righteous who have fear, he commissions Angels to guard them, and have them gain the victory. In this, remember, O Christian soul, that if the devil turns around you like a roaring lion, to turn you into its prey, then, the Archangel commissions his Angels to help you. Rejoice; you shall not be defeated.

II. All the righteous were tormented by the devil and had recourse to Saint Michael, that is why they gained the victory in the battle. It is said that Blessed Ringa*, threatened by the devil and scared by terrible visions, invoked Saint Michael who, immediately rushing to her help, put this infernal spirit to flight. Once, St Magdalen the penitent saw, in the grotto where she was living, a multitude of vipers and a proud dragon that, opening its mouth wide, wanted to devour her; having invoked the Archangel, the latter drove the terrible beast away. O power of Saint Michael, and terror of hell! His name alone is the ruin of hell. Let us bless God who wants Saint Michael to be glorified in this way.

III. Consider, O Christian, how many victories were gained over the tempting enemy! You moan and afflict because the devil does not leave you a single moment. He astonished, seduced and defeated you so many times. Why do not you have recourse to the prince of the heavenly hosts, since he is so powerful against infernal forces? If you had invoked him, in the past, you would not have been defeated. If you had had recourse to him, when the devil would set within you the fire of impure passions, and try to seduce you by the attractions of the world, then you would not have fallen! Now, this war is not finished. Therefore, turn towards the heavenly warrior. The Church exhorts you to invoke him; if you want to gain the victory call him to your help with the very words of the Church.

31 augusti: Vår Fru av grundarna, Konstantinopel
Abboten Orsini berättar för oss att kejsarinnan Sankt Pulcheria lät bygga denna kyrka, och gav den Vår Frus gördel. En fest av denna relik hålls på Konstantinopel, under titeln Deposition av Vår Frus gördel. Den Efter att fransmännen hade intagit denna stad, fördes denna dyrbara skatt bort av Nivellon, biskop av Soissons, och placerad i det berömda klostret Vår Fru, med en del av den himmelska Drottningens slöja.
Kejsarinnan Sankt Pulcheria bodde i Konstantinopel på 500-talet och hon byggde många kyrkor, sjukhus och värdshus för de utblottade. Hon är ansvarig för minst tre kyrkor i Konstantinopel som var tillägnad den Heliga Jungfrun – Blachemae, Chalkoprateia och Hodegetria.

Kyrkan Jungfrun av Blachernae, nu känd som Panagiakyrkan av Blachernae, ligger i Istanbul. Det var en gång den mest berömda helgedomen i Konstantinopel, och ligger innanför stadens höga murar, bara en kort avstånd från Gyllene hornet. Kyrkan påbörjades av kejsarinnan Pulcheria, och fullbordades av hennes make, kejsar Marcianus. Den byggdes på platsen av vad som troddes vara en helig källa, vars vatten fortfarande är anses ha ett terapeutiskt värde. Kejsar Leo I gjorde flera tillägg, inklusive Hagai Soros, som faktiskt var ett litet kapell bredvid kyrkan där den heliga Jungfru Marias heliga klädnad och gördel förvarades i en silverfärgad och guldrelikskrin. Relikerna hade förts från Palestina år 458.

Mary was the masterpiece of God's creation; her soul was the most perfect ever dwelling in a human body. A pious tradition tells us that she possessed the use of reason much earlier than other children. Her intellect was illuminated by supernatural light; her will was exempt from concupiscence. Being preserved from original sin, she surpassed in holiness, from the first moment of her existence, all angels and men. She possessed all virtues in the highest degree, because of her faithful co-operation with sanctifying grace and with the countless actual graces granted to her. She lived in constant communion with God, undisturbed by evil inclinations from within or temptations from without.

Practice
.
Through the effects of original sin we have lost the supernatural prerogative of original justice, and even after receiving sanctifying grace in holy Baptism we are exposed to many temptations. Our life is a constant warfare. We must, however, not despair in this struggle, for if we are true children of Mary she will come to our aid. In all temptations Mary is the "Help of Christians" if we have recourse to her. But if we wish her to help us, we must not expose ourselves unnecessarily to temptation. "He that loveth danger shall perish in it" (Ecclns. iii. 27). This sad experience has come to many. Let us, therefore, avoid the danger and occasion of sin; and whenever evil approaches us in any shape, let us call upon Mary, and we may rest assured that she will assist us. "I shall certainly triumph over my enemies," exclaims St. Alphonsus, "if I place my trust in thee, O Mary, and if thou art my shield and protection against them."

I. The life of the righteous is a continual fight, not only with visible and carnal enemies, but also with invisible and spiritual ones, who unceasingly set up snares for the life of the soul. With such enemies, the fight is continual, and the victory difficult, and only possible when you have the protection of Saint Michael. To the righteous who have fear, he commissions Angels to guard them, and have them gain the victory. In this, remember, O Christian soul, that if the devil turns around you like a roaring lion, to turn you into its prey, then, the Archangel commissions his Angels to help you. Rejoice; you shall not be defeated.

II. All the righteous were tormented by the devil and had recourse to Saint Michael, that is why they gained the victory in the battle. It is said that Blessed Ringa*, threatened by the devil and scared by terrible visions, invoked Saint Michael who, immediately rushing to her help, put this infernal spirit to flight. Once, St Magdalen the penitent saw, in the grotto where she was living, a multitude of vipers and a proud dragon that, opening its mouth wide, wanted to devour her; having invoked the Archangel, the latter drove the terrible beast away. O power of Saint Michael, and terror of hell! His name alone is the ruin of hell. Let us bless God who wants Saint Michael to be glorified in this way.

III. Consider, O Christian, how many victories were gained over the tempting enemy! You moan and afflict because the devil does not leave you a single moment. He astonished, seduced and defeated you so many times. Why do not you have recourse to the prince of the heavenly hosts, since he is so powerful against infernal forces? If you had invoked him, in the past, you would not have been defeated. If you had had recourse to him, when the devil would set within you the fire of impure passions, and try to seduce you by the attractions of the world, then you would not have fallen! Now, this war is not finished. Therefore, turn towards the heavenly warrior. The Church exhorts you to invoke him; if you want to gain the victory call him to your help with the very words of the Church.
